SeaFeast Friday Night Guidelines

Prose, Poetry, Films, and Songs of the Sea

Eligibility: Everyone wanting to share an original work of art about their adventures on the water. The FisherPoets-on-Bellingham-Bay venues will focus specifically on celebrating commercial fishing through poetry and song. If you have a different water-related medium or content, we welcome you. Register and we will find a suitable venue for you.

Content: For a taste of the type of content we’re looking for, take a look around the original FisherPoets Gathering in Astoria, Oregon  Or, look up! Look around! Bellingham is already full of water-inspired art, performances, films, stories, and this Bellingham SeaFeast ’18 evening is our opportunity to bring all of this together in one celebration.

Types of Presentations:  We welcome videos/films, stories, poems, songs, ballads, sea chanteys, and more. If you choose to present a video/film, please indicate the type of A-V equipment you’ll need.

Note: Because some of the venues welcome families, we ask that if you choose to present before 9 p.m. that you keep your content family-friendly. After 9 p.m., go for it!

Length of each Presentation: 15 minutes for individual performances. We encourage filmmakers to submit full-length pieces, and we will try to work them into our programming.

Compensation:  To assist with travel and expenses and support the lives of artists, we provide stipends:

  • $20 for Whatcom County residents
  • $100 for residents outside of Whatcom County, but within Washington
  • $200 for presenters outside of Washington

Cost for the Public to Attend: $5 for a button good for admission into all venues. Each venue will have a greeter selling buttons. There is no charge for presenters.
