It’s a family affair with Island Girl Seafood. Allie Johnson shares, “My seafood heritage dates back four generations when my family started their oyster and clam farm. I grew up digging, picking and harvesting our shellfish beside my dad and brother.”

My grandfather, Carl, operated the successful shellfish operation for almost 70 years. He set up many the accounts still managed today by his son (my uncle), Jake Johnson. Today, the company name is Marrowstone Island Shellfish and they remain a significant source of quality shellfish for seafood restaurants and international markets in the Pacific Northwest. Their deliveries consist of fresh clams, oysters, and Dungeness Crab. The family company continues to reside in the same picturesque location along the banks of Mystery Bay on Marrowstone Island, just past the Nordland General Store.

In 2016, we started selling our cooked seafood at local farmers markets and are still operating throughout Western Washington today. I also spent 3 years working on commercial fishing vessel in Southeast Alaska and Puget Sound.”
